Ben White is a good guy. In many respects he would make a great mayor. Unfortunately, I do share his vision for the city. His benchmark for our community seems to be based on the number of businesses that locate here. Dennis Maloney seems to have a better grasp of the College Station sensibility that what we want to grow is our quality of life. Dennis understands that vibrant economic growth is an important aspect of achieving our overall goal.
I think that we all know Dennis has well controlled passion and not a temper. I have, on more than one occasion, heard Dennis described as a loose cannon. It is this quality, in fact, that I think that College Station most needs. Dennis seems to not be tethered to any special interests. But it would be a mistake to think that he doesn’t have direction. Dennis is focused and has clear of vision. Dennis is tenacious so he will keep pushing, but he will not roll over anyone. Most of all, as loose cannons go, Dennis is very safe because you always know where he’s going and where he’s coming from.
It seems to me that there are times that things need to be redirected and that you can’t do that if your cannons stay tied to the same old structures. College Station has over the last few years been plotting a new more citizen involved course. Dennis listens to the people and has a good sense of the direction that College Station needs to go. He also has the fire power to make it happen. A Vote for Maloney is a Vote for quality of life in College Station
