ELEVEN POINTS OF EXCELLENCE

P – Planned Development. We want a vision for how this city develops for our residents and businesses. We want smart and managed growth to ensure the continued quality of life we have come to expect.

U – Uniqueness. We don’t want to be like other cities in Texas. We want a character that is College Station.

B – Business. We will continue to strive to recruit business to the area to include retail development. A strong, vibrant economy requires a mix of both.

L – Livability. Simply stated, we want College Station to be a community where people want to come home to. Neighborhood character and integrity mean a lot.

I – Integrity. As mayor, I will ensure that Council and city staff perform their duties with the utmost of integrity. We will listen, we will ask questions. We will ensure our citizens are stakeholders in the process.

C – Communications. Effective communications is critical to the success for any healthy, vibrant city desiring to become a Top Ten All American City. We can do a better job in communicating with our citizens and I will work to take our communications to the next level.

P – Partnerships. As mayor, I will establish a network of partnership with as many special interest groups as possible; neighborhoods, seniors, youth, business to name but a few.

R – Roadways. College Station is headed for traffic grid-lock without innovative planning to ensure connectivity both through and around our community. We must plan smartly to avoid this potential, unacceptable situation.

I – Infrastructure. The need to get ahead of street, drainage, and sewer development and maintenance is critical for a growing city. We grow only if we have the ability to maintain our core services. I will also include my desire to complete a project that has been discussed for many years. A City Center. We have a professional staff and they deserve to be headquartered under the same roof or at least on the same campus.

D – Destination. College Station is prime to become a destination city for associations and organizations seeking a city our size for their annual conventions. We are in need of a facility to accommodate such events.

E – Education. Earlier I said College Station had a world class university and a state class independent school district. As mayor, I will work to ensure that our citizens are educated in the business of the city. I want to be proactive in bringing to the attention of the citizens situations that require their input or simply their awareness. Much of this education would be done through our partnership projects.

So what we have is PUBLIC PRIDE (Eleven Points of Excellence) I want every citizen of College Station to be proud of their community. Not a sinful pride, but a sincere, heartfelt pride that they are part of something great. An All American City.

It seems that he is saying something about our school system. Should he be running for the school board instead of mayor?
