I got an email requesting that I post this letter of endorsement that was sent in to the Eagle too late for publication.
Here it is:
My husband and I have been acquainted with John
Crompton and his family for twenty-five years. He
has devoted countless hours to work that has
improved our community. As a resident of College
Station, I wholeheartedly support John Crompton
for College Station City Council. He brings a
vision and voice to the council that has become
missing in recent years. My wish, for my home and
community where I have raised my family, is for
College Station to maintain the values of first
being a family community; a community that that
values history, tradition, neighborhood
preservation, and a unique identity. Families
create a community, not business. Business does
not thrive without people. After talking to the
candidates at a public forum, I realized that
behind the slick pronouncements in print and on
TV was a simple question—which candidates were
running to represent the ordinary citizens? I was
looking for fellow citizens who were not making
money off my home losing value to be representing
me in College Station planning. I want a council
that represents not business, but the people who
work hard to pay taxes and have created this
community. I am voting for John Crompton and
Dennis Maloney with a mandate for thoughtful,
informed planning for College Station.
